Guardian
Statue of a guardian
» Above Jewish Memorial, by the old pool. On your right side, there are steep stairs leading towards the castle, up there is a building. Standing in one of the corners of its roof is a rather boxy looking knight. Truly bizarre… He has a small flag made out of metal and he looks as if he was truly guarding something. That house is well placed into the complicated terrain, there are garages on its roof, with the garden below. Progress. And marvelous view. «
» The house was built by Jaroslav Bartošek who was the director of Bratislava’s public transport company between 1920 and 1939. After the establishment of the war-time Slovak Republic, he and his family had to return to Prague. His relatives are still living in a house “guarded” by the twin of this guardian from Bratislava. «
